What is the ToolShare Library?

The Wildsight Elk Valley Branch ToolShare Library aims began to make food processing tools more readily available so you don't have to spend the money to buy and store tools you only use a few times a year.

 

Where are the ToolShare sheds located?

The ToolShare sheds can be found in downtown Fernie. Drive down the alley behind Local at 632 2nd Ave.

 

 

Who runs the ToolShare?

The ToolShare is a program operated by Wildsight Elk Valley, an environmental non-profit based in Fernie, B.C., and serving the Elk Valley region.

 

 

What happens if there is something wrong with the item when I rent it?

Please notify us immediately at elkvalley@wildsight.ca if there is anything wrong with the item you borrow.

 

How does the ToolShare work?

To access the tools, first you need to sign-up for your ToolShare Access Pass. Once you have completed your registration you will gain access to the library rental system and can start enjoying the tools! 

 

How much is a ToolShare Access Pass?

For just $18 you can gain year-round access to our library full of food process tools and support food security in Fernie.

 

 

What if I can't afford the $20 annual pass?

Please contact us if you need assistance accessing the program due to financial concerns.

 

 

What if I"m late returning the item?

There is a $4 per day late fee if you don't return the item per day. It is automatically charge. Remember to check-in the item when you return it to the ToolShare shed. 

 

What type of tools are available?

The ToolShare contains food processing tools like dehydrators, apple presses, sauce makers, apple peelers, ladders and more. Go to Wildsight.ca/ToolShare to check out the full list of tools that are available.

 

How are my ToolShare fees used?

All funds are put right back into the program and used to support the online platform and to maintain the tools.

 

 

How can I get involved with ToolShare?

We are always looking for volunteers to help. Please email us at elkvalley@wildsight.ca or stop in at Local to talk with us about getting involved.

 

What happens if I break the item beyond repair?

You will be charged the replacement fee listed in the ToolShare item listing if you are negligent in using the item.
